Nintendo's hand held game console DSi announced the advancement of the first great popular format dual-display business since the DS Lite was released in March 2006. The 1st2008 DSi is scheduled for launch in November in Japan with U.S. and European editions following in the spring of 2009. The console was announced at the Nintendo Conference, held in Tokyo on October 2, 2008 and is the third version of the DS, to be published.
The console has a set of specifications and characteristics that distinguish it from its predecessor, the most obvious of which is the addition of two cameras, a camera is placed inside the hinge and points the user, while the other camera is instantly visible, as it is located on the outside shell of the unit. Despite the addition of cameras the overall size of DSi has been reduced, is 12% thinner than DS Lite.
DSi screens are larger than in previous models measuring 3.25 inches compared to 3-inch screens of the DS Lite, the speakers have also been adjusted with a superior sound quality. Elsewhere there are the changes minor, such as the power switch has been replaced by a button and now stands near the bottom left of the touch screen.
An interesting addition is the SD card slot, this allows external storage of pictures and downloaded software and facilitates playback of AAC audio. Without however, this feature has come at a cost as the slot of the beloved GBA (Game Boy Advance) was deleted that this console is not compatible with GBA or back to games or accessories that require the slot to function.
Another point in favor of the DSi is the fact that ships with its own internal flash memory and built web browser, you can also download games at an online store called DSWare shop, these games can be stored on the console for later enjoyment and can be purchased using Nintendo Points, the price structure of these titles are 200, 500 or 800 points, although some applications will be free.
Available in a choice of white or matte black of the Nintendo DSi soon find yourself in combat with the latest Sony PSP PSP 3000 Update and only time will tell if the new look of the DS have enough pulling power to attract those looking for a hand to buy the game console.
