There are so many variables in GPS systems, is a bit overwhelming to choose the best. Here are our choices for the 10 GPS systems. Our selection was hardly scientific, but based on feedback from Amazon customers, the best sellers listed on Amazon and PriceGrabber, and elections GPSMagazine.com editors.
In this group, only vehicles with GPS receivers are on the list because, as a group are by far the largest segment of GPS systems sold. But do not worry, if you're an outdoor enthusiast, we have listings for cycling, motorcycle, marine and desert drives too. You will find in Section in another article.
The manufacturer with the largest number of specimens in the top ten is from Garmin. Its sales volume in the U.S. outperforms all other manufacturers, so it's no surprise to see them mentioned so often. Note that the models vary in price and features, so do your homework and research a little more and not just
pick form the list of ten when making your choice.

1. Garmin Nuvi 765T GPS-Best Overall
With the typical facility of the screen Garmin Nuvis touch, this product also includes Bluetooth, traffic alerts, Text to Speech, route planning, lane assistance and ultra-fast speed update maps. With all these features, there is good reason to rate this number one GPS receiver.
2. Garmin nuvi 265T
The 265T, along with other "five" Garmin Nuvis series, comes with free real time traffic updates. It also includes "predictive" technology that enables faster satellite lock. This includes North American maps, and text-to-speech capabilities, announcing the necessary instructions with street names. As with other Garmin models that have the "T" designation, this unit comes with an integrated traffic receiver with updates traffic.
3. Garmin Nuvi 285WT
This GPS receiver comes with traffic updates in real time through MSN Direct, has all the features of the nüvi 265T, and also allows the use of hands-free phone calls with Bluetooth technology.
4. Tom Tom XL 340-S
A budget GPS with some unique features, this unit has "advanced lane guidance" users say it works well. Text-to-speech, 3-D view and cross-IQ Routes make this system a winner at an affordable price.
5. Magellan Maestro 4700
One of Magellan, most recently developed GPS units, this receiver has some great features. You can manually exclude any road you want to avoid a rather unique feature, besides that you can customize the menu to display only the things we want to see. As with most higher end units, has Bluetooth and traffic alerts and get a list of upcoming turns in advance.
6. Garmin Nuvi 855-Best Voice Command GPS Unit
Besides having full control over the GPS system with voice commands, is the only Garmin Nuvi allows you to exclude certain routes. The 855T offers traffic updates through MSN Direct. The preloaded map function over 6 million points of interest, street City Navigator NT for U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.

A note on Garmin Nuvi 260, 360, 760 and other units. Although still available for sale, and reap high marks above, these units are being replaced by new series (ending in 5). Nuvi models 260, 360, 760 and others that appear on Garmin website as "suspended". As with any electronic device, the technology is constantly evolving. Our suggestion is to buy the latest models are available, especially when the manufacturer lists older models being discontinued.
