Let me try to give some sort of theory behind what makes a hook work or not. When listening to a song what is the # 1 to remember more?
You guessed it, the hook, also known as the choir. The hook is, more often then none, the only element that makes a song memorable. I feel sometimes humming the hook of my favorite song throughout the day.
For rappers write a catchy hook can sometimes seem like magic or any composer of that. Before begin, ask yourself what is a hook.
A hook can be a verse or a short verse as a musical or vocal part of a song that is transitional between verses. That's like a technical definition.
There are no requirements for connecting length how long is supposed to be. It could be a few words or few sentences great. As a rule of thumb, the hook is usually equal to or less than eight bars.
You can try to flip the script on them and make the hook more than the verse or verses shorter than the hook.
As a rapper who want the hook to be remembered in the mist of all the verses in his song. The hook becomes the transition between verses on every song you hear.
This repetition of hook is a contributing factor to be so hooks catchy. Sometimes the hook is first, but in other circumstances, the starting line before the hook.
