You may be confused as to obtain a "gamer" as a gift for a birthday or other special occasions. After all, consoles can be very expensive if on a limited budget, so choosing a console that the beneficiary does not enjoy as much as others can take the value of a gift. Buying a console is not a difficult task, however.
The Xbox 360 is one of the best-selling game consoles, thanks to its competitive prices and wide support. The Xbox 360 does not have some problems with defective systems break, but it seems that Microsoft has begun to improve the designs of Xbox and the percentage of failures. Provided you decide to get a new model, you should be fine.
If you do not mind paying a little bit more than the Xbox 360, you can get a PS3. The PS3, also known as the PlayStation 3 is a Sony product has neat features like the ability to play Blu-ray DVDs. In addition, the PS3 has many games that other consoles no, thanks to exclusive deals for game developers. Unlike Xbox Live, PS3 owners will not have to pay for online play.
The Nintendo Wii is another contender, and is best known for being one of the next generation consoles cheaper. The Nintendo Wii is ideal for families and people of all ages can join in the fun. Even older people like to play a good game of bowling with the Wii's special controls, as it resembles the real act of bowling without leaving your living room.
Next-generation consoles are still in demand, but to a lesser extent. The PlayStation 2, for example, has fallen dramatically in price making it affordable to anyone at all. Some games like Final Fantasy 12 are also only available on PS2, which is a highly sought after console sometimes. The original Xbox does not have the same support as the Xbox 360 will play most old Xbox games.
Going even further back in time, are classics like the NES or SNES, the good news is that you do not have to look hard trying to find a console that still works, you can buy old games of this type through the Nintendo Wii Shop if you would be so inclined. Microsoft has launched similar programs with the game developers so that nostalgia to the consoles.
