Video games have a history of over 50 years and have been well documented. This is a summary of the most important milestones in the history of video games.
Video games can be traced back to 1952. It ASDouglas who created the first documented computer game "Noughts and Crosses."
The first American to invent interactive video game was William A. Higginbotham. He invented the "Tennis for Two" in 1958. In 1962, Steven Russell created "space war."
In 1971, Nolan Bushnell created the first coin arcade style game "Computer Space." Ralph Baer, later known as the "father of the video games, created the first home game console, the Odyssey, can play 12 different games.
The objective of the first Home game console, Atari 2600, with plug-in cartridges that store information about the game was released in 1977. 1978 saw the release of Magnavox – a console system that includes a full keyboard 49-Odyssey 2.
The popular Pac-Man was brought to America by the Japanese company, Namco, Midway, in collaboration with the United States in 1980. Pac-Man is the first game to have an animated character with their own name.
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto created Donkey Kong, the introduction of "Mario" as a character, at four different levels. Miyamoto became a giant of the industry followed by a series of highly successful games from Donkey Kong in 1981.
The giant Microsoft software jumped on the bandwagon in 1982 and published his first version of Flight Simulator.
The Americans, used so far to play slow system with sound systems almost negligible, were overwhelmed by the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) launched in 1986. NES had 8-bit color graphics, compilation sound effects and fast game play.
As video games grew popular and addictive, a lot of games that were racist, pornographic and violent in the nucleus, hit the market. This trend of feeding rays of barbarism in the players started with Custer's Revenge in 1983. This type game reached boiling point with the release of Mortal Kombat in 1992. Extreme violence in Mortal Kombat, lead to a Senate investigation in 1993.
Following the Senate investigation, the Entertainment Software Association established the Entertainment Software Rating Board in 1994. This meeting began offering ratings content and information about video and computer games. The ESRB has changed since 6 votes and 31 each content description in a slot game given category.
While games are becoming richer in content and presentation, the technology available to play games was the best that one might have wished it to be. The systems are either too expensive or lacked the subtlety to play the games. Breaking the spell in 1999, Sega launched Dreamcast system. Dreamcast with its innovative technology – Memory Card VMS / PDA and a built in 56kbps modem for online play – was described by Popular Science magazine as "one of the most important and innovative products of 1999. "
Technology at its best is available in the game industry. Sony launched the 128th Play station 2 bits – the first console to use DVD technology – with graphics capability that was better than that available on a PC. This is a major milestone in 2000.
Hoping to take advantage of the popularity of video games, the USArmy, gave away the game, the U.S. Army, for free. The reason was to attract new recruits for the army. The game became the top online action game in the country in 2002.
While the army was using video games positively, citizens were concerned about the impact of "cop killer" games. In deciding that enough was enough, the State of Washington signed legislation banning the sale or rental of games COP-murderer to minors. This historical rules, fining violators up to $ 500, entered into force in 2003.
What has been on this list is only what can be termed as significant milestones in the evolution of video games and is not intended as a calendar of events in the history of video games.
