If in doubt about the power supply of your computer, you might consider replacing it. There are two times in elementary school when it comes to taking this step.
The most common is that if a major update targets, including the installation of a new, faster CPU. Let's say your computer has a processor midrange, graphics, CD burner, card, lots of RAM, and is based on a power supply of 350 watts. This shift to a faster CPU may be more that the power supply can handle. 450 watts would be in order, especially if future changes, like moving to a high-end graphics card, are a possibility.
Remember, the fastest processors today can take 100 watts by themselves. The graphics cards have the same power hungry, with end units engulfing other than 100 watts. Want more power available for your computer will use.

The first thing a beginner when it thinks that replacing a power supply is "How will I get all these wires hooked back up?" Just remember that all four wire plugs are interchangeable. You can change the plug that goes to the hard drive with which it is to the CD / DVD, and will work equally well. No danger to turn back the plugs as they are made to fit only one way. The power plug to the motherboard is unlike any other, a large rectangular block with many wires leading to it, and can be confused with something else. (Old computers have two power connectors to the motherboard, labeled P8 and P9. Just note the location of each on the board.)
Once the wires are unhooked from the disk drives and the motherboard, remove the four screws that secure the power supply on the back of the case, and ease out. Put the new supply, tighten the screws, and connecting cables.
