In early April, people across the western hemisphere are lining up to get the Nintendo DSi, the third and final version of the Nintendo DS. Game console hand is very similar to its predecessor, the Nintendo DS Lite, but the new features of the Nintendo DSi make a big improvement.
One of the most well-known additions for the Nintendo DSi is the addition of two cameras. One is located within the hinge to the player and the other is in the outer layer. These cameras can seems unnecessary right now, but future games for the system could include facial recognition and motion to extend the game as well as use images Custom and Character profile pictures. As technology develops, the cameras become as important to the game as the controller is now.
The pictures you take can be stored on another new addition to the Nintendo DSi, SD card slot hidden. AAC audio is played, and can be used to store applications downloaded from the DSi shop. The applications range from games to useful tools such as mobile laptop that lets you take notes and save them for later.
The DSi Shop is like the Shop Channel on the Nintendo Wii. Use the dots, called Nintendo Points (formerly Wii Points), to "buy" applications and download them. The applications range in value from 200 to 800. Applications worth 800 points are called "Premium". In addition, any unit that Nintendo DSi accesses the DSi Shop before March 2010 will receive 1,000 free Nintendo Points.
There have been some changes in the physical parameters of the Nintendo DSi, too. The handheld gaming console is 12% thinner than the Nintendo DS Lite and the speakers have been improved. The screens are slightly larger and have five brightness levels instead of the four available on the Nintendo DS Lite. The power switch has also been replaced by the power button, which also serves as reset a "soft" for the system. Players can now change the game or return to the main menu without having to power down the system of play.
An elimination between the DS Lite and the DSi Nintendo is the Nintendo Game Boy Advance game slot. The Nintendo DSi is not compatible with earlier versions such as the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite are and Nintendo DSi is not compatible with additions such as the adhesion used to play Guitar Hero: On Tour and Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades, and RumblePak Nintendo DS. Many people, however, believe that this removal is far less important than the benefits of the additions of the hand game console.
